Propyl Glycol is a hygroscopic viscous liquid which belongs to the class of propane-1,2-diols, consisting of propane with a hydrogen at position 1 and the position 2 hydrogen is substituted by hydroxy group. It physically appears as a colourless liquid having no odor and a faint sweet taste. Its chemical formula is C3H8O2 having a molar mass nearly equals to 76.095 grams per mol. Propyl Glycol is an organic compound having low toxicity and can be used as a solvent, antifreeze and as an emulsifying agent. It is miscible in water and other solvents like ethanol, ether, acetone, chloroform etc.
